Barbara was born and raised in the Greensboro area; she’s married to husband Alex, has three grown sons (two married), and 2 granddaughters. She has been in real estate for 13 years, and a top producing Realtor both locally and nationally for 7 years. Prior to starting her career in real estate, Barbara was in mortgage lending, which helped her to build her strong foundation for success. Barbara is manager and team leader for her award-winning sales team, The Mann Group. In addition, she is owner, and Broker in Charge of her real estate firm, RE/MAX Realty Consultants located in Greensboro, NC. Barbara has been a member of the Greater Greensboro Builder’s Association since 1990; she served on their Board of Directors for 4 years and lead many of their committees and projects within that time. Barbara is on the Board of Directors of the Greensboro Regional Realtor’s Association. Barbara is a firm believer in giving back, and in addition to numerous charitable contributions, she was 2006 chair for the American Cancer Society's Gala Committee, their largest fund raising event in the Triad area. Barbara also serves on the Board of Directors for Carolina Adoption Services which is an International Adoption Service. Barbara is a wealth of knowledge and experience and stays full of energy working with both buyers and sellers. She specializes in, but is not limited to, relocation, as well as new construction marketing and development.

Tax Considerations >Taxpayer Relief
Legislation included in the 1997 federal budget made significant changes that improve a homeowner's ability to profit from the sale of real estate.
The capital gains tax exclusions on the sale of a principal residence is just one of several benefits for homeowners. When you sell a home you have owned and use for two of the five years prior to the sale, married couples are allowed to keep up to $500,000 in tax-free profits and taxpayers filing as singles can keep up to $250,000 before paying capital gains tax.
Long-term capital gain is also taxed at lower rates as a result of the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act passed in 2003. The maximum capital gains tax rates dropped from 20% to 15% and from 10% to 5%, effective for sales and exchanges taking place on or after May 6, 2003 and through December 31, 2007. In 2008 the 15% rate continues for higher income taxpayers, while the 5% rate for lower income taxpayers drops to 0%, but only for the 2008 tax year. On January 1, 2009, the 10% and 20% rates will be reinstated.
